Our History
The Bells of St. Frances was formed in 1994. We started out using borrowed handbells. Fundraisers
were held so we could purchase our own set of handbells and equipment. We sold candy, had yard sales, sold bell memorials,
and performed concerts. Enough money was raised to purchase a 3 octave set of Schulmerich handbells, a 3 octave set
of Suzuki handchimes, and all necessary equipment. Table covers were sewn out of old drapes, and each ringer purchased
their own set of uniform shirts. Over the years, we have purchased "real" handbell table covers and had our current
uniform shirts made by a parishoner in our church.
In December 2005, we produced our first cd. This cd, which is titled: "Ring Christmas Bells",
is a collection of well known Christmas Carols and Christmas Pop music. In November 2006, we completed
our second cd, which is titled: "The Bells of St. Frances At The Movies". We will soon begin work on
our 3rd cd which will be a collection of favorite hymns. In January 2008, we loaded up the equipment and headed for
Italy. During our 13 day tour, we "rang" our way from Rome to Milan, including a performance for Pope Benedict.
We have a year round schedule. Rehearsals are once a week for 2 hours. Now in our 14th year
together, we have become one of the most respected and well sought after groups in our community.
